persepolis is an informative, personal account of young Satrapi and how she adapts to the changing political climate. satrapi writes vividly, yet from a child-like perspective about themes of personal and political repression in the middle east. young marjane’s views are shaped by her liberal family trying to adapt to a fundamentalist regime and particularly poignant is her faltering faith in god as she tried to come to terms with the severe changes in her life. it's really well-written, amusing in some places, yet crushing in others. really enjoyed!
