patrick stewart narrates a feature-length planet earth.
stewart’s narration isn’t as suitable to a nature documentary as david attenborough, whose enthusiasm for his subjects always came through. stewart sounds detached, although perhaps this is deliberate. sespite various ‘cute’ scenes, the message of the film rings loud and clear in warth – this planet is remarkable, but our actions are slowly destroying it. whilst planet earth leaves the viewer in total awe about the world that we live in, earth leaves you feeling guilty about taking it for granted. its photography and message is inspiring, depicting the survival of certain species around the world as they adapt to their deteriorated environments, but don’t expect the end of the film to leave you feeling good about yourself.
